The Huawei LUNA2000-215-2S10 Smart String ESS is a high-capacity energy storage system that combines 215 kWh of rated storage capacity with 108 kW rated AC output. Designed around lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, the system delivers a maximum cycle efficiency of 91.3% while supporting a 0–100% depth of charge and discharge.

Huawei equips the LUNA2000-215-2S10 with four battery packs, a 280 Ah rated battery capacity and an operating voltage range of 648–864 V. Furthermore, the system uses active balancing and automatic SOC calibration to help manage battery performance and maintain consistent operation.

To manage operating temperatures, the Smart String ESS uses a hybrid cooling system and supports operation from -30°C to 55°C, with derating above 50°C. In addition, its IP55-rated enclosure helps protect the system against environmental exposure, while a maximum operating altitude of 4,000 m provides flexibility across different installation environments.

Safety also forms a key part of the system design. The LUNA2000-215-2S10 includes directional gas exhaust, a top explosion vent and aerosol fire suppression. Moreover, it incorporates anti-islanding protection, residual current detection, insulation resistance detection, AC overcurrent protection and AC cable connection protection. Type II lightning protection is also included on the AC port.

For monitoring and system integration, Huawei provides Ethernet and optical fibre communication with support for the Modbus TCP protocol. As a result, the system can integrate into compatible monitoring and energy management environments while supporting streamlined operation and maintenance.
